Our Legacy

Not only do we provide world-class accommodation and facilities for our guests, but we also contribute to the local community in ensuring that we remain a socially responsible citizen of Namibia. Here are some of our community projects in which we are currently involved:

Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino prepares special food for ‘Meals on Wheels.'

Every Monday and Thursday, the Meals on Wheels vehicles are loaded with 64 and 107 food packets respectively for elderly citizens (60 years and older) all over Windhoek, including Suiderhof, Academia, Eros, Pionierspark, Rocky Crest and Windhoek West and even as far as the Avis Dam. The elderly pay a small amount for the food, which consists of meat, salad or vegetables and starch. On Thursdays a pudding is an additional part of the package.

Volunteers start preparing food at 06h00 at the Suiderhof Community Centre to get it ready for distribution. Every Thursday their work is made a bit easier with fresh and tasty food specially prepared and sponsored by the Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino. Says Tony Boucher, General Manager of the WCCR: "We started with this sponsorship at the beginning of 2008. We are aware of the plight of many elderly in our community and, with the rising food prices, it has become even more difficult for many people to afford the basics. It is an absolute pleasure for us to be part of this great venture, Meal on Wheels, which has been up and running for 20 years already."

Ruth Smith, the organiser of the venture, says they are extremely grateful to the Windhoek Country Club Resort, as it has enabled them to offer their elderly a good, hearty and fulfilling meal without having to charge too much.

Lending a helping hand to Hope Village

The Windhoek Country Club Resort has made Hope Village one of its main CSI projects over the last couple of years, donating in the region of N$90 000 raised from golf days in 2006 and 2007.

In 2008 the hotel made a different, but equally valuable donation, when general manager Tony Boucher hand over much needed beds, curtains, sheets, pillows and duvets to the value of approximately N$100 000.

The Hope Village Trust is building Hope Village. which will have an Aids Hospice, homes for moms and their children, a children's home and a Training Centre, and seeks to give homeless people both a place to stay and employable skills. The first house in the village, Standard Bank House, was completed in February 2008 and, furnished with the items donated by Windhoek Country Club Resort, the first children took up residence in March.

This village will be the first and only one of its kind in Namibia and only the second such village in the World. Hope Village Trust provides home-based care, soup kitchens, a soccer ministry, HIV Awareness Education and Counselling. The Trust has already built a day clinic treating HIV and the first house is also completed.

Marietjie de Klerk, pastor of the Emmanuel church and founder of Hope Village, thanked the Windhoek Country Club: "I want to give heartfelt thanks for all the linen and beds received from the Country Club. The linens fit beautifully with the colours of the house - it is amazing! I cannot wait to move my first children into this house - the first safe haven some of them have had in their young lives. Thank you once again to Country Club for making this house so beautiful and therefore a pleasure to stay in."
